Day 0 technically is Day 0 and Day 1 but since we skipped an
entire day traveling over here, I am just going to call it Day 0. :)
We flew out of O'Hare on Saturday afternoon. The flight was great
considering it was over 15 hours and was a full flight. We had a
wonderful hot lunch and our pick of movies or TV. We could even watch
the flight path on a map. After almost ½ way through the flight,
they came by with a sandwich and an ice cream cup. We even got a nice
hot breakfast before we landed.
Once we got to the airport, things were really smooth also.
Everyone's prayers must have been working! We went through customs,
picked up our bags, and stopped by the kiosk to get our Airport
Express shuttle passes. Bonus for us, they had a sale for buying 2
1-way passes. The express train to the Kowloon station was fast,
quiet, and easy to maneuver. Even the shuttle bus was easily marked
and easy to get on. That was our first chance to really see the city.
What a busy city it is! It looked like something out of a movie and
very surreal. Lots of people and neon. We were really surprised by
how active and busy the city was at 7:30 on a Sunday night. There
were people everywhere!
Check in at the hotel was quick and painless. The staff here are wonderful so far. We couldn't be happier with everything even if the view from our room leave a little to be desired. It is definitely true Hong Kong. We got settled in and then went searching for a little dinner before we crashed. We ended up at a chain ramen house that had excellent fried rice. Nick tried eel fried rice and ate every bite. I had beef and mushroom and it was really good too.
After getting back to the hotel, we watched some silly TV and
crashed.
